Checklist para blog
Suppose you have written the best blog article on a specific topic. But if you don’t publish it the right way, the content won’t perform well. Even if you don’t receive any visitors.
However, the material of a lower quality that adheres to a blog post checklist may do better than the content of a higher grade but doesn’t follow any checklist at all. So, maintaining a fruitful blog post publishing checklist is crucial.
Also, sometimes it may happen that you are following a checklist but that is not helping the content performance.
No matter what the case may be, here I am going to share the complete blog post checklist. You don’t need to look for things here and there – just follow each of the things I mentioned in this post. A checklist like the one below should be used when publishing a quality blog article.
Blog post checklist – general points
Here are the most common factors you need to consider when writing a new blog post.
Identify your audience
Before writing the first word of your blog post, you need to figure out who your audience is . Your writing tone and content structure should suit your target audience. Identifying your audience before you write will help you understand how you should describe your point of view. Also, it will surely increase user engagement on your blog.
The purpose of the blog
When creating a blog post, you should have a detailed marketing plan in mind. For example, it could be to collect leads, send traffic to product pages, or inspire readers to click on ads. Keeping your purpose in mind helps you write better content.
Do original research
Writing a blog post is a time-consuming task for sure. However, you must conduct original research on the subject you have chosen. You might be wondering what an originally searched blog post is. Well, if your blog post contains stats, authentic user feedback, and in-depth data, it’s an originally searched swamp post.
You can do the search in different ways. For example, create polls among your close network and get feedback. You can also ask existing users about the specific topic and collect data. Similarly, you can follow other methods such as checking industry leaders’ blogs.
Create an attractive title
Remember that people will read the headline before they start reading the blog post. So, write a catchy headline that easily entices the reader to check out the blog post details. Though consumers won’t see more than 70 characters on the SERP, maintain the character count within that range.
Create the content outline
After giving the blog post the perfect title, you need to outline the blog post. It will help you prepare for better writing. Basically, the outline will contain the subheadings and subtopics that you will cover in the post.
Write in short sentences
Try to write the blog post in short sentences so that it becomes more readable for website visitors. Long sentences tend to generate less user engagement. Therefore, if at all feasible, I would advise against utilizing sentences with more than 20 words.
Use relevant images and videos
A proper image with alt text can explain a lot of things. Consider including pertinent photographs on the blog. Make sure images are optimized and use proper alt tags. Likewise, if you think a video can explain any step on the blog, add a short video. However, it is mandatory to optimize the video as well. Visual content helps both search engines and readers.
add subtitles
When writing a blog, we start with a title/headline. But that’s not good enough to make it easy to use. You need to use subheadings for all the small sections you are writing on the blog. Subheadings help make the blog post scannable. Relevant subheadings will also add an SEO advantage. Subheadings should start from the H2 header tag and go to the H4 header tag based on the structure of the content.
Format the blog correctly
What is your goal when writing a blog? Acquire traffic and keep them reading the blog, right? This requires perfect formatting for the blog post. The article will have the optimum format if influencer quotations are used, highlighted text is included, and notifications are added to the blog post. If necessary, add spaces between blog sections.
Create bullet points where relevant
If you are writing long blog posts – say 3,000 to 5,000 words, it will be difficult for readers to find the specific piece of information they are looking for. Adding tags to the post will help make it easier to use. Readers will find it easy to get the gist of a given topic. However, it is not an obligation to follow the rules.
Write long-form content
A few years ago, it was easy to rank on the SERP (Search Engine Result Pages) with short blog posts. The tendency was to write the post only covering the specific topic. But things have changed now. After recent Google updates, long posts have the competitive advantage of ranking higher. You must cover relevant topics along with the main topic. I would advise composing a blog article of at least 700 words.
SEO Checklist for Blog Posts
If you want to increase blog traffic, your posts need to fulfill SEO purposes. Otherwise, it will be difficult to rank better in search results. Follow the checklist for SEO optimization and rank better on the SERP.
Find the main keyword
To produce a blog article, you must invest time, money, and effort, right? So you should expect good feedback from the post. Unfortunately, writing blogs about random topics won’t be as helpful.
Find your target keyword before you start writing content. Several keyword research tools on the market make it easy to find effective keywords. For example, you can use Ahrefs, SEMrush, Keyword Revealer, etc.
Select secondary keywords
In addition to the primary keyword, find a group of related keywords or secondary keywords. Because you might not be able to rank easily for your main keyword. You should target some long-tail keywords to optimize your blog post.
These keywords should have less competition on the SERP.
Also, if you are updating an old blog post, you can check the Google search console to find out which keywords are chosen by Google.
Use the primary keyword in the title
Now that you have your primary keyword in hand, it’s time to optimize your blog post for your targeted keyword. Start optimizing the headline. It’s always best to start your title with your main keyword. If not possible, at least use the primary keyword in the title.
Use keywords in the introduction
Once you’ve given your blog post a compelling title with your targeted keyword, it’s time to write an engaging introduction. By using the main keyword in the introduction, you can give the reader a vibe of what they will get in the post. You should include your main keyword in the intro – preferably in the first 10% of your post.
Optimize the blog for targeted keywords
You have a list of keywords you want to rank for on the SERP. Then, after writing the blog post, optimize it for keywords. It’s not just about the title and subtitle only. You also need to use your target keywords in the body of the content.
Optimize the images
When adding images to the blog post, optimize them to avoid slowing down the load time.
Optimize the URL
Optimizing the blog post permalink is just as important as the other piece of content. Make sure you use your primary keyword in the URL. It helps readers understand what the main theme is. It’s not good practice.
Internally link to relevant blogs
Internal linking is one of the most powerful ways to optimize your website for search engines. Give links to relevant new blog posts. Likewise, be linked to posting other blog posts related to the current topic.
Give links to relevant resources
Don’t hesitate to link to other sites (blog posts/landing pages) instead of yours. Having external links to useful resources will increase your site’s optimization. However, please do not link out to any resource that lacks authenticity. Also, check the site’s DA and PA before providing the link.
Use the main keyword in the conclusion
Must use the primary keyword at the conclusion of the post. It will help you in terms of SEO.
Use the primary keyword in the meta description
Nowadays, search engines often use the meta description in an automated way. When writing it, you must use the main keyword.
Blog Post Checklist – Writing Tone
Your writing tone is an important factor in terms of user experience. Here are the things you should consider when writing a new blog post.
Write to 8th-grade standard max
Because people from all walks of life with different levels of understanding can read it. You can check the readability score using tools like Hemingway – for which my recommendation would be to keep the score below the 8th-grade standard.
Avoid grammatical errors
Before publishing the blog post, make sure it does not contain any grammatical errors. That’s why after completing the post, you should proofread it with a professional editor. These tools suggest correcting grammatical errors in your writing.
Write in the second-person tone
Modern blog posts tend to be conversational. For example, check out this blog where I’m referring to readers using ‘you’ so it feels like I’m having a conversation. It helps to get a better response from readers.
Keep your blog post unique
Many people make a common mistake when writing a blog post. They tend to copy and paste things from another post. But that’s not how you should write content. Instead, give your own opinion. Once you’re done writing, use tools like Copyscape to check for plagiarism.
Termine com um call to action
For each of your blog posts, keep a call-to-action button at the end. Suppose the blog post is about using a WordPress plugin for a certain task. Give the plugin download button at the end. Just keep it related to the blog for readers to take the desired action.
Blog Checklist: Content Distribution
Just publishing content will not help you get traffic. You need to plan for content distribution.
Remember to prepare your social media promotion plan. After publishing the blog post, share it on different social media channels to reach more people. There are some platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer, etc. from which you can share your post on multiple social media channels with one click.
Send emails to subscribers
If you have an established blog and already have a few subscribers, send them emails. Let them know you’ve published a new post. Targeted subscribers can bring a huge amount of traffic to your website.
Repurpose your content
One of the best ways to reach more people with your blog post is by retargeting it. There are several ways to repurpose content. You can create a video blog, blog podcast, slides, infographics, and more. After creating them, share them on multiple channels and drive more traffic.
