The GPD Win Max 2 has different configurations, the most expensive with the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT eGPU and the cheapest with the RDNA 3 GPU
Different portable mini PCs powered by AMD Ryzen 7000 mobile APUs, with RDNA 3 iGPU, have been appearing in recent weeks. But none of them are as unique as the GPD Win Max 2, which also offers a Radeon 780M, but you can go further with a Radeon RX 7600M XT with GPD G1, an external case equipped with the mobile GPU.

Thanks to a connection called “Oculink”, it is possible to deliver high bandwidth ( 63 Gbps, different from 32 Gbps of Thunderbolt 4) to complementary devices, such as a dedicated GPU. The GPD Win Max 2, even with its different keyboard design, is already small, but the GPD G1 case with Radeon RX 7600M XT is even smaller.
The AMD eGPU case is less than 3 cm high, 11 cm deep, and 22.5 cm long. It still has connections like USB, SD card port, DisplayPort 1.4a, HDMI 2.1, the Oculink connection, and an on/off switch. The AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT inside the small case features the Navi 33 GPU with 2048 stream processors and 8 GB GDDR6 with a 128-bit interface, consuming 120 W.
GPD G1 Performance
The GPD even revealed some benchmarks made in synthetic tests and games. In 3D Mark Fire Strike (DX11 1080p), for example, the eGPU managed to outperform a desktop RTX 4070 but lags behind in Time Spy at 1440p.
In games, against a desktop GeForce RTX 3070, the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT eGPU manages to do better in most games tested at 1440p. Of the 23 titles tested, the GPD G1’s RX 7600M XT does better in 15 of them, such as Resident Evil Village, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

As you can imagine, it’s not cheap to have a Win Max 2 GPD with an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU. The cheapest version, which is equipped with a Ryzen 5 7640U (has a Radeon 760M iGPU), 16 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage, costs US$ 1,703. The top-of-the-line version, with a Ryzen 7840U, 64GB, and 2TB, with the eGPU, costs $2,172.
The cheapest version of the GPD Win Max 2 without the eGPU costs $892, and it comes with the Ryzen 5 7640U, 16GB of memory, and 1TB of storage. For those who participated in the crowdfunding, these amounts can decrease by almost 200 dollars.
